The next cache is located at an institution that was instrumental in getting newspapers in the hands of Mobridge residents. The location, built in the late 1930s, boasts an original mural by Elof Weden from Minneapolis, named “Return from the Field.” It was a Works Projects Administration (WPA) project within a long-time public institution.
It’s one of five WPA murals in this type of building in South Dakota. The others are located in Sturgis, Webster, Flandreau, and Beresford. The Klein Museum has a miniature trowel that was given Jack Hand’s son on the day of the dedication.
